Search games

Use search to find a game, for example to log a play or to add it to your collection.

How search works

When you type, the search starts from the Geek Stats database. If the results are few or none, the search is automatically extended to BoardGameGeek (BGG): the games found on BGG are added to the Geek Stats internal database, so later searches will find them right away.

If you still can't find the game you're looking for, you can use the dedicated button to force the search on BGG, which queries BoardGameGeek directly even when the local results might seem enough.

Remember: if you can't find the game you're looking for, tap the button to force the search on BGG: it queries BoardGameGeek directly and adds the game to the Geek Stats database.

Searching in other languages

Thanks to the search algorithm you can type the game's title in another language too: the game will still be found, but in the list you'll always see its canonical name (the main title).

If the game image is missing

If a game appears without an image, don't worry: it means it was just added to the database and its image will be updated soon.

Game not on BGG?

If the game isn't on BoardGameGeek at all (a work-in-progress design, print-and-play or homebrew), while logging a play you can create it as a prototype. See the Prototypes guide.
