BoardGameStats

Import your plays exported from the BG Stats app. This guide covers the file requirements and the specific steps; for the general import behavior (player mapping, data overwriting, etc.) see the Import data guide.

File requirements

Steps

  1. In BG Stats, export your data in JSON format.
  2. In Geek Stats open Import data and choose BoardGameStats.
  3. Select the exported JSON file.
  4. Confirm the import: the player found in the file will be preselected to be merged with yours.

Important: the import is irreversible but idempotent (you can repeat it). Remember that it overwrites the corresponding data โ€” see the warnings in the Import data guide.

Limits per single import

There is a maximum number of plays, players and locations you can import in a single file. If your export exceeds one of these limits, the import is blocked (nothing is imported) and the message tells you what to reduce. In that case you can split your data into multiple exports or contact support. These limits may change over time.

Add only new plays

The "Add only new plays" option is on by default: plays already present are left untouched and only the missing ones are added โ€” so you don't overwrite changes made after a previous import (for example merged players). Turn it off only if you want a new import to also update already-imported plays (for example corrections made in BG Stats).

What may not be imported

Even on a successful import, some plays can be skipped. The main cases:

At the end a summary shows how many plays were not imported and why.
