GeekMatch Score
The GeekMatch Score is a 0โ100% rating that estimates how well a game suits you, based on how you actually play. You'll find it on a game's detail screen: the higher it is, the more that game is "your kind of thing" โ 100% is a perfect match.
No questionnaires: just your data
Unlike classic recommendation systems built on surveys and questions, GeekMatch never asks you anything. It uses the real data already in Geek Stats:
- your collection;
- the plays you log;
- your BoardGameGeek ratings;
- how often you replay certain titles.
What it looks at
The score blends several signals, including:
- the designers and artists behind the games you love and play most;
- the categories and style you gravitate to (strategy, thematic, โฆ);
- the complexity, length and player count you're most at home with;
- how likely you are to replay a game;
- the game's overall community rating on BoardGameGeek.
Your own rating matters most. If you've given the game a personal rating on BGG, that becomes the anchor of the score, and the other signals can only fine-tune it a little. So a game you love stays high even if it's "outside" your typical profile.
How reliable it is
Next to the score you'll see a reliability indicator:
- โ low โ little data to go on;
- โโ medium;
- โโโ high โ plenty of data.
The more plays you log and the more you keep your collection up to date, the more accurate the score becomes. With little data, treat it as a rough estimate.
Computed on your device
GeekMatch is calculated entirely on your phone, with no extra calls: it's instant and your data stays with you.
