Geek Pick

A Geek Pick helps your group choose the perfect game to play together through a vote โ€” no more endless "what do we play tonight?" debates.

Requirements & limits

Important: a Geek Pick only works between registered accounts. Make sure the friends you want to involve have a profile in the app.

How it works

  1. Create a Geek Pick from the Geek Pick tab in Community and add the participants. You can give it a title and, optionally, set a voting deadline (date and time): when it passes, the Geek Pick closes on its own and the winner is decided from the votes received so far. Without a deadline, the host closes voting manually.

Tip: you can also start a Geek Pick straight from your filtered collection: apply the filters (player count, play time, category, etc.) and create the Geek Pick with the resulting games already proposed.

  2. Propose games โ€” every participant adds the games they'd like to play, including their own custom games. Next to each one you can see how many collections in the group own it, plus a warning if the participant count falls outside the game's supported range.

  3. Choose the voting type โ€” the host picks how you vote (see below).

  4. Start voting โ€” the host opens the vote; from now on the game list is locked and no one can add or remove games.

  5. Vote โ€” everyone casts their vote according to the chosen type. Your ballot stays hidden from others until the survey closes.

  6. Winner โ€” once everyone has voted, the host closes early, or the voting deadline passes, the winner is revealed with a little suspense. On a tie, the winner is drawn at random among the top games.

Tip: active Geek Picks โ€” and ones that closed in the last few hours โ€” also appear on your home screen, so you can jump straight back in or check the result.

Voting types

When starting the vote, the host chooses how you vote. In every mode, ties are settled by a random draw.

After voting: create the play

Once closed, from the Geek Pick screen you can log the play for the winning game right away: game, date and participants are pre-filled. Just complete the details and save.

Vote distribution

After closing, you can open the vote distribution: a grid showing who voted for what. It becomes visible to all participants only once the survey is closed.

Leaving a Geek Pick

Any participant can leave a Geek Pick while it's still open: tap the ร— on your own avatar in the participants row. Handy if you were added by mistake or want to drop out. The games you proposed stay in the list. (The host can't leave โ€” they delete the Geek Pick instead.)

Note: you're notified when you're invited to a Geek Pick, when voting starts, and when the survey closes with the winner.
